I Approve!

I think everyone talks to themselves a little bit, right?  Say, when you're watching TV alone and you address the screen, or if your computer is slow and you physically threaten it or you do something stupid and say, "Way to go, jackass?"  Talking to inanimate objects or addressing yourself is just normal, wouldn't you say?

I was just watching TV, Heroes to be precise, and one girl started kissing another.  Unexpected new story element, sure, but I like girls kissing girls, so I threw my hands up and exclaimed, "I approve!"  Normal, right?  However, what I noticed for the first time and, now, thinking about it, am noticing I do a lot when I'm alone, is that I'm not talking to myself.  I turn my head to the left, as if addressing someone just behind and to the side of me, and I'm talking to that person.  I make gestures and facial expressions directed at an imaginary individual that I am apparently talking to without realizing that I was talking to someone that doesn't exist.

I'm really not sure if i can approve of that.

If my imaginary companion starts hitting me, I'm just calling it quits and jumping off of a building.

I always address an imaginary companion or audience, which is why I think that breaking the fourth wall adds realism.

I talk to inanimate objects all the time. I do it around other people, too. Usually it's me yelling at technology. I've been told this isn't normal, but it's the best way for me to deal with my frustration with something that I've lost control of (like a computer locking up).
