fuck
Drop shipping sucks, because you're dependent on a 3rd party to actually fulfill your order. But it's useful, because maybe there are a few items you sell that are high volume and you don't have enough space to keep enough stock on hand. In those cases, you go to a logistics company, rent space in their warehouse, and send the orders to them as they come in to get shipped out.
We used to drop ship about a dozen SKUs. When business slowed down, we pulled them all out except for one item. Even now, that one item we only sell about once or twice a week. The only reason we haven't pulled that last SKU is because we don't have the space to take back the stock, and it would cost too much to ship it here. So our volume with this fulfillment company we use is probably down to about 8 shipments a month, at most.
So I'd love to know why I'm on the phone with them every other month trying to solve a fucking problem. This time, they lost an order I submitted on Friday. I didn't find out until 15 minutes ago... 45 minutes past the cut-off to make sure that it shipped today. So an order that should have shipped on Friday isn't actually going to ship until four days later. And of course, this customer also happens to be impatient as shit. She sent an email request for tracking information four hours after she ordered it. If I can't convince the fulfillment company to ship it today, she might cancel the order. But in the past, they've never budged on their stupid 11AM cutoff rule, even when they're the ones that made the mistake. Why should they? It's not like they're the ones that have to deal with the customer.
assholes.
