Subject:  bad hard drives

Message:
I purchased two 750 mb [sic] hard drives from you and have had a hard drive failure I believe, I now get the green screen of death to look at. I have e mailed you couple of times but don't get any response. I did
the upgrade in March 2009 and I'm sure the hard drives are under warranty !!!!!!! I would like to save any of the shows on the hard drives if possible. please respond or else.

Isn't that lovely?

Also, math lesson time: We provide a six month warranty.

March + Six months = September

And this guy is notoriously a handful. He did in fact email in late March, and we did respond. Here are his messages, and here are our responses:

Message:
I have your hacked hard drives in my Tivo and my laptop is networking with the Tivo, how do I access the Tivo to record programs to a hard drive ??????????

Response:
I'm sorry, we can't help you with that. It is illegal and way outside the scope of what we do here.

Message:
What the hell did I buy your hacked hard drives for, that is what you imply on your web page, if that is the case I would like to return  the hard drives for a refund and I will return the one I ordered for my Sony Tivo also !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Response:
There is certainly no reason to be rude.  Presumably you purchased a kit from us based upon what we said it does - if there is something you are looking to do beyond that, I suggest you check the forums (such as dealdatabase); what we give you is a starting point for that, but I'm sorry, we cannot assist you with these things as TiVo has forbidden it. If you would like to return your kit(s) in accordance with our return policy, please provide your order information and we will generate an RMA for you. Thanks.

Message:
Well start generating the rma for both hard drives and the hard drive that is in transit for my Sony, I think you are being deceitful on your web page and I have every right to be pissed and rude thanks for nothing.

Response:
Can you please be more specific about what is 'deceitful' on our web site and why you are taking this tone? Again, we are happy to generate RMA's for your orders and will do so during business hours, next week. (this was late on a Friday night) With that said, it is not clear to me why you are so angry; the products we sell do exactly what we say they can do - if there is something we are saying that you cannot do, then perhaps its just because you do not know how to do it?  Or is it that you are expecting something beyond what we state? I cannot tell anything from your previous inquiries other than the fact that you seem to be somewhat angry and are more interested in expressing that than anything else.

Message:
You imply on your web site that I can transfer my saved Tivo programs to a hard drive for viewing at a later time, but when I asked how to do this you said you can't help me. What exactly are your hacked hard drives good for except more storage ?

Response:
It would be very helpful if you could be more specific. There are complete descriptions available for the networking kits we offer and we are very specific about what that functionality provides and what it can be used for. I'm still not certain how you were under the impression that these kits do something OTHER than what we say they do, or why you wouldn't have asked if something was not clear, but please understand that there is a difference between you making an assumption about something that is not available and us implying it.

Message:
Please send RMA for last hacked hard drive you sent me, I find it "decietful" [sic] when I asked for help with getting my Tivo movies off your hard drives, you first told me that was illegal and you wouldn't help me. I then threatened to return  your hard drives and you then direct me to another web page to fix my problem. I guess you must be paranoid of Tivo, when I  purchased your hacked hard drives I assumed it was a simple installation and then downloading a program from you to transfer my Tivo movies to my PC, boy was I wrong about that !!!!!!!

Response:
We will send you an RMA as soon as possible.  You may want to look up "deceitful" in the dictionary, as well as the word "helpful" and "wrong."

Message:
Maybe it is you who should look up help, decietful, and honesty.  You probably would not understand anyway, so don't waste your limited brain function.
