I'm terrified to watch that movie after what I've heard of it.

oh my god. There Will Be Blood instantly became one of my top ten favorite movies. Fucked up and awesomely great. DDL performance = incredible.

Precious is one of those movie that I'm glad was made, but I'll never watch it. Angela tried to get me to read the book it's based off of (Push). I barely got through the blurb on the back.

Don't get me wrong, there were some inspirational moments, but in the end it's still just very sad. I'll take The Color Purple over Precious/Push ANY day of the week. I LOVE that movie...

Exactly. I used to work with kids like Precious every fucking day for 3+ years. I don't need to see the movie. I know the stories. I'm just glad that other people will know them, too.

I used to used the word precious as a pet name, kind of like Gollum did with The One Ring. I could still do it after the success of the LotR movies, but now... Can't do that no more.
