GO!
I'm loading up the phone with some stuff like The Field, Emeralds, and some other chill stuff. Looking for some Fu input, possibly.

I'm not the Fu and I think our musical tastes overlap only slightly. I'm more indie rock than electronic/experimental.
Maybe I've taken too many month long road trips but I can't listen to music for that long in the car anymore. I suggest TAL or Radiolab podcasts for when the music isn't doing it. Or maybe some Sound Opinions.

I heavily recommend Bohren und der Club of Gore. It's perfect music for any road trip, especially if you are looking to fall asleep behind the wheel.
I know I'm not the only one that has been on long car rides but being on tour for weeks at a time I have learned that even your own music that you love will drive you nuts after a while. I recommend a book on tape and some comedy in the mix. Some funny/interesting podcasts- Uhh Yeah Dude, This American Life etc. A 13 hour drive listening only chill ass music will turn into a 17 hour drive.
Comedy is the best, it keeps you laughing and attentive....also, singing at the top of my lungs has helped keep me awake.
The last time I drove to Chicago by myself I had Weezer- Pinkerton and Superdrag- Regretfully Yours and Headtrip in Every key on repeat. I was so happy I cried.
Yeah, 3rded on the comedy.
Also, I have a hard time finding music I like to listen to more when driving than Zeppelin. Not the pussy ballads, but like the hard rock blues zep.
Although, I've been listening to the black keys a lot lately, and I'd call them a good second for driving music.
I also listen to a lot of 90s hip hop when I drive, because I know all the lyrics so singing along usually keeps me awake.
Staying awake is the name of the game. Avoid relaxed, chill or repetitive music.
