The Color of Magic?
It's alright. In-sewer-ants is the most memorable thing I took from that book.
I think he's a hit-or-miss author. Some of his books had me cracking up like a madman. Others just kind of left me waiting for the jokes to come.

I love the one he co-wrote with Neil Gaiman, Good Omens. And the movie they did of The Hogfather was entertaining.

Good Omens was.....good.
I love Good Omens. I've read it twice, listened to the unabridged audiobook and got my paperback edition signed by Neil Gaiman.
I also read a novella by Pratchett in a collection I have. I remember it being funny, but I don't remember much beyond that. Sorry.

Parts of it (the first Discworld book) are funny, but on the whole, it's just too much. Had he thinned out a bit of all the randomness, it would have been a much more entertaining book. Perhaps the second one will improve upon it.
If you're actually interested in reading more of his stuff, I hear that his books about Death (as a character in Discworld) are the best. I haven't read them, though.
But I wasn't all that impressed with Good Omens. I mean, it was entertaining, but I never found myself laughing out loud. I guess it just got so overhyped by friends of mine before I finally got around to reading it.

Thanks, I will check them out.
Also, if you are looking for something that will make you laugh, I'd suggest picking up "The Gates" by John Connolly. He writes this mystery series that I absolutely love, and this was a book he wrote on the side for kids. I was hesitant at first, but within five pages I was amused.

I've been chuckling (outloud) at Joe R. Lansdale's Hap and Leonard novels. The first one, Savage Season, wasn't all that great. The friendship between the Hap and Leonard seemed forced and their banter unrealistic in that one, but the next two, Mucho Mojo and Two-Bear Mambo, are much better and had me laughing quite a bit, even though they deal with some pretty dark and violent stuff.
I could be wrong but I think it was a Pratchett book my ex was reading, then when she realized the entire book was a lead up to a pun, she threw it across the yard.
